James E. Sheehan, NYS Medicaid Inspector General
James Sheehan has focused on health care fraud since 1987, having personally handled or directly supervised over 500 health care fraud matters for the federal offices in NYS and Pennsylvania. From 1999 to 2006, he led the Federal Government’s investigation and case against Medco Health Solutions, which resulted in recovery of over $155 million, as well as substantial business changes to protect patients and pharmacists. He was appointed as NYS Medicaid Inspector General in April 2007, and in 2009-10, OMIG had recoveries and new cost avoidances of over $ 1 billion. Mr. Sheehan will tell us how his office, the second largest state Medicaid program integrity agency in the United States, protects and preserves this very important federal program for our citizens who need it.

Crutches 4 Africa- David Talbot
We will meet Colorado Rotarian, David Talbot, with whom our club has partnered over the past month in collecting used mobility devices- crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs- to send to Africa and other countries where the need is so desperate. A polio victim himself, David will tell us why and how he began this nonprofit organization, which was highlighted in the August 2010 Rotarian magazine. He will show us the compelling images of the people and places he has visited as a professional photographer, and explain to us how our efforts will directly impact so many lives in far-away lands. Don’t miss this charismatic man and his story!
